Toshiba G9000 Series Uninterruptible Power Systems Now Available in 1 to 2 Megawatt Models

HOUSTON, TX — Sept. 18, 2017 — Toshiba International Corporation (TIC) now offers the industry-renowned G9000 Series Uninterruptible Power System (UPS) in 1, 1.3, 1.5, 1.6, and 2 megawatt (MW) capacities. Toshiba G9000 models are now in stock at the Houston facility and ready for delivery.

“The Toshiba G9000 Series UPS megawatt unit’s high efficiency, modular design, and small power density footprint is ideal for expanding datacenters,” said Greg Mack, Vice President and General Manager of the TIC Power Electronics Division. “The advanced technology and compact design allows an easy to install, operate, and grow-as-needed system, ideal for any large datacenter.”

Toshiba G9000 Series MW units are double-conversion, voltage and frequency independent (VFI), UPS models utilizing the latest generation of carrier stored trench-gate bipolar transistor (CSTBT) technology configured in a multi-level pulse-width modulation (PWM) architecture designed specifically for the G9000 UPS. The transformerless MW units are configured in a parallel modular design for capacity. The parallel modular design can also be used for internal N+1 redundancy at reduced loads allowing for a smooth recovery from an isolated module failure. Each UPS module is controlled by a digital signal processor (DSP) to a direct digital control located in the Control, Hybrid Static Switch, I/O (input/output terminal) main cabinet. Up to six G9000 MW systems can be paralleled for capacity or for redundancy.

The modular CSTBT multi-level, PWM architecture enables 97% efficiency in double-conversion, VFI, mode of operation. The efficiency level is near constant over the entire normal application load range. The resulting efficiency minimizes the cooling requirements for large independent, co-location, and cloud hosting datacenters. The reliable and robust CSTBT IGBT technology allows for a superior double-conversion AC power quality output needed for the longevity of servers and other sensitive data center load equipment.

Additionally, the modular design of the G9000 Series allows the critical quality power user to expand the system from 1 to 2 MW as load requirements increase. The small footprint, power density mechanical design requires 0” rear clearance, and the easy-to-access I/O cabinet allows for ample top and bottom cable entry reducing installation time and cost.

The new 10″ color touchscreen LCD display provides an at-a-glance graphical status of the mode of operation as well as ease in navigating the UPS system data parameters including critical input, output, and battery power measurements. The G9000 advanced DSP control circuitry allows for self-diagnosing status of the entire system and each UPS module. The large memory storage included permits for a time-stamped pre- and post-voltage and current data recording when there is a critical fault event or an output overload.

External status monitoring is available through SNMP, HTTP/S (Web Interface), and/or the facilities network industrial bus (Modbus TCP/RTU, BACnet IP/MSTP) is accomplished through an optional Toshiba RemotEye 4® multimode network communication card.

The Toshiba G9000 Series is compatible with VRLA and wet cell batteries, as well as the proprietary Toshiba long-life SCiB® Rechargeable Battery energy storage system. The robust and reliable UPS design is backed by a three-year onsite warranty. Fast response and expert quality service is provided through an expansive nationwide UPS service network. The network of highly skilled UPS professionals provide fast economic emergency service as well as planned and preventative service maintenance agreements all coordinated by and through the Toshiba UPS Service Department. Such well-trained reliable service not only expands the life but also maximize the ROI of the UPS system.
